She also gave me deadlines which helped me to be more organized. She also helped me set a goal of getting $20,000 worth of scholarships by August 31st. I am proud to say that I am halfway there Advice to high school students: Local scholarships Awarded:  Get a head start on applying to both colleges and scholarships. Don’t procrastinate because time waits for no one. “To be on time is to be late, and to be early is to be on time.”   Number of colleges applied to: 10 Numberofcollegesthataccepted: 5 The most important aspects making final college selection: Size and cost. Holland is small. I’ve always been in and like smallschools. Don’twanttobeinabig schoolandgetoverwhelmed. Affordable tuition and fees. My mom is a single parent working multiple jobs to keep me and my brother in private school and also give us what we want and need. Local scholarships Awarded: Yes, $10,000 from Dept. of Workforce Development for 2 years. I must maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA Extracurricularactivities: Basketball Community Service: Volunteering at the Aquarium Regrets: Not starting my schol-arship and college applications earlier because it would have really given me a better chance of obtaining more scholarships. Also I wouldn’t have felt so rushed, which would have taken a lot of pressure and stress off.
