Meetings Meetings facilitating Networking Opportunities providing Senior Seminars
and and and on on on on on and and and on on on on on What’s more because of of the Education Ministry’s Plan 2022 mandate for Bermuda’s Public Senior Senior Schools to create a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a culture of of college-ready students we have made made career career counseling counseling a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a priority priority We are are are are are not the the only ones who made made career career counseling counseling a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a priority priority So did MyFutureBermuda They joined with us 3 years ago to to to fund our our certifications as as Global Career Development Facilitators Parenthetically in in in in in in in our our our training we had an an an occasion to to to to learn more about Holland’s Six Personality Types: Realistic Investigative Artistic Social Enterprising and and Conventional - which perfectly dovetailed into our our our adoption of of of of the the O*NET O*NET Interest Interest Profiler The O*NET O*NET O*NET Interest Interest Profiler Profiler is is is is one of of of of of two career career interest inventories that that we we include in in in in in in in our our our career career career counseling practice One of of of of the the reasons we we chose to to to to use use O*NET O*NET is is is largely due to to to to its practicability and utility It It is is is is a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a user friendly platform platform It It helps expose our our students to to to to to relevant career career career options that that appropriately matches their interests Whereas O*NET O*NET is is is is an an an an an on-line career career platform platform we often turn to to to to the the the the the pen and and paper version of of the the the the the Career Clusters Interest Survey This instrument can be be seen as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a supplement to to to O*NET O*NET because again the the the the the the user is is is able to to to track how their personality and and and interests merge with certain careers In the the the the the the the end we we as counselors and and students students students share the the the the the the the experience of career career career exploration Then our our students students students are are are are are empowered to to conduct their their own research At that point our our students students students put in in the the the the the necessary work to to reach their their career career goals – better informed!

College Tours Gone

COVID-19 has changed the the way we do a a a a a number of of things and one of of the the biggest changes for our Senior students who are looking at universities and colleges is the way we we can can conduct our our tours Right now we we cannot visit campuses in person so so like many other events all campus campus tours have gone virtual Most universities have tried to to provide campus tours and open houses virtually There are also a a a a a a a host of YouTube videos
from current university students that supplement what the the the universities themselves provide As with anything on-line there are advantages advantages advantages and disadvantages to to these virtual tours tours Some of the the the advantages advantages advantages include the the the ability to to to participate in in tours tours on your your own own time and from the the comfort of your your own own home Anyone with internet access can now ‘visit’ universities and and colleges anywhere in in the world Time and and cost are no no longer limiting factors There are however disadvantages to these virtual events Students
do not get the the same feel from watching a a a a a a a a video or traipsing around Google Google Earth and Google Google Maps in in in in in the the same way that they do from walking around campus in in in in in person Trying to to to get students to to to engage in in in in in virtual tours and presentations has also been challenging To engage our our Senior students in these virtual tours and events the the Student Services Team at at Saltus encouraged students to to to participate in in these tours and open houses during our our weekly Life Skills lessons We also dedicated the second week week of October to to to virtual tours
